My Role

I worked as a UX/Visual Designer. My responsibilities included defining the solution to the problem, conducting user research and market research along with user interviews and expert interviews, information architecture, design strategy, sketching, wireframing & prototyping, designing visuals.

The problem & the challenge

The Agricultural sector is the backbone of the Indian economy. Farmers rely heavily on being able to sell their produce at a fair price to feed their families and keep the agricultural industry running. Thus, getting an appropriate selling price for the farmers is important. However, nowadays, the Indian farmer is facing a lot of issues due to volatile pricing. For example, if a produce has a good selling price for tomatoes then a lot of farmers start planting and cultivating the same produce. At the same time if tomatoes are introduced in the market in a large amount, then prices start reducing. Thus, farmers end up having to throw away their produce, as the supply surpasses the demand leading them to opine that it is of no use selling the produce at progressively falling prices. This issue can be mitigated using a digital solution.

User Research

Conducting interviews and surveys in the villages of Maharashtra. Understanding the problem and identifying the user and the correct target audience. Both males and females with age group between 20 to 60 years of age, working professionals, students, housewives fall in the user group. Their needs are very basic such as living a healthy life by buying fresh farm produces for themselves or their family with fair pricing.

Market Research

After a competitor study it was noticed that there are a lot of e-commerce platforms which sell fresh farm produce but sometimes the rates are hiked. There is no communication between farmers and consumers. There is no B2C interaction. One doesn't know when the produce was produced or how fresh is it. There are also various marketing strategies and latest medias are used.

Research Findings

People have become sedentary which has resulted in increased online sales of farm produce, which in many cases is not fresh or incorrectly priced. A weekly bazaar organised by kisaan company will help to solve these issues. People will start spending time on buying vegetables that have better quality, are fresher and more fairly priced instead of blindly ordering it online. Farmers will get fair pricing and thus can promote events such as tomato plucking, strawberry plucking and this will help to bridge the gap between farmers and consumers.

Solution & Concept

Kisaan Company Application is focused only on Indian farmers. Hence a weekly bazaar organised by kisaan company will help to solve these issues and bring all the farmers under one roof. People will start spending time on buying vegetables that have better quality, are fresher and more fairly priced instead of blindly ordering it online and thus creating a hassle free experience for consumers.
